McArdle Skeath Milestones

McArdle Skeath Milestones

In 1968, Michael McArdle bought his first lorry and started his business venture in offering a reliable transportation service. 51 years on, the business has grown dramatically and is now a trusted partner amongst Irish exporters providing integrated logistics solutions for the food, pharmaceutical and dry goods sectors throughout Ireland, UK and continental Europe. These specialist services include transport, temperature-controlled distribution and storage.

The McArdle family opened their first premises in Inniskeen, Co. Louth in 1974 offering warehousing services at the request of our existing client base. In 1980 McArdle Skeath grew to service the EU marketplace, and in 1988 our warehousing portfolio extended to 7,000 pallet spaces.

The 1990s saw the business move into quality management due to their increasing nutritional customer base, and in 1998 value-added solutions and quality assurance programmes commenced. Following this the millennium marked a major milestone for the business, as it was granted licensing and approval from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.

In 2008 McArdle Transport Ltd acquired Skeath Refrigerated Transport Ltd, with a rebrand to McArdle Skeath, representing a diversification into temperature-controlled logistics.

The family business was granted a Known Consignor license from the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) in 2009, and a Wholesaler Distribution Authorisation was issued by the Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA) in 2010.

In 2015 McArdle Skeath acquired a 21-acre site to develop our new facility in Hollystown, Dublin 15, building work commenced in 2016 and facility officially opened in June 2018 bringing our storage capacity to just under 50,000 pallet spaces. This further widened McArdle Skeath’s portfolio of services with a diversification into temperature-controlled warehousing offering a multi-temperature storage facility purpose built to service the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors.

In 2018 we celebrated the official opening by An Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar, of our new warehousing facility in Hollystown, Dublin 15. 2018 also marks McArdle Skeath’s 50th year in business and we won’t stop there. McArdle Skeath have ambitious plans to double capacity over the coming years.

We believe we are different and the desire for excellence in what we deliver has driven us to continually evolve our offering to ensure we are consistently providing the highest standards in our supply chain solutions.” Siobhán McArdle, Finance Manager & Director.
